Unfortunately, I can't rate you lower than one star; you actually deserve FAR FAR less...
If your company had any common sense or decency, you would do that work at night like any other major city. Then you wouldn't have to worry about traffic or innocent pedestrian children "getting in your way." But why worry about the kids, right? As long as you're making your money, their safety and health isn't your problem, huh? Unethical, disgusting, immoral shysters!
Yager Materials and Owensboro Paving Company have no concept of public safety, especially when it it comes to children. This morning at approximately 7AM, I witnessed a full crew from Owensboro Paving Co. prepping to do work on 13th and Leitchfield Rd. They unloaded all of their heavy equipment at E. 18th and Leitchfield dangerously close to Estes Elementary School. As they unloaded a full sized steam roller and started toward their work site BLOCKS away, the workers completely ignored the fact that a large group of children were crossing the intersection to get to school. Thank goodness a parent stepped in, stopping the steam roller. Had she not done so, we would all likely be mourning the loss of a group of innocent children. As part of their work, the crew has been heavily spraying fresh oil all over the streets. The odor is so intense, it caused one child with asthma to have immediate breathing problems. Not to mention all of this work, and it's chemicals, are being done upwind of Estes Elementary... so the odor and effects are being naturally carried by the wind right toward the school.

Apparently, Yager Materials doesn't care what happens to the community; so long as they're lining their pockets with TAXPAYER MONEY. And the city government couldn't care less either... instead of hiring this, or any company, to repair our truly crumbling infrastructure; they'd rather spend a few million dollars of concrete trees. No wonder the City of Owensboro is millions of dollars in debt and the population of what was named an "All America City" just a few years ago is rapidly shrinking. I'm proud to say I'm following suit and moving out of this cesspool of a town. I'd rather live in cardboard box on the south side of Chicago. Sadly, it's safer to live in an urban war zone... people can easily hide from gunfire, but it's nearly impossible to escape a toxic chemical cloud that reaches over a mile in the name of "progress".
They work hard to keep our waterways secure and clean. They also help to dredge up sediment to allow for concrete exports that help our towns economy.
The entire situation has been reported to City Hall and the Mayor, who according to the workers, contracted them to do this work. I guess it's more important to repave perfectly good roads while putting children at risk, instead of repairing roads in much worse shape. At this rate, E. 18th Street with it's potholes and literally crumbling base structure will have to deteriorate to gravel or a gaping sink hole before something is done about it.
